Client plug-in
The client plug-in (NetClient.vpg) should be installed
in each VPT that is used for time tracking in the workgroup. This
plug-in allows to download new projects from a server, then send
the tracked data back to the server. Copy the plug-in file into Plugins
subfolder in VPT installation folder. Then restart VPT so it can
load the new plug-in into memory. The plug-in adds a new
sub-menu to VPT and two toolbar buttons for its commands:
Get Project From Server allows you to load a new empty
project from the shared network folder. When you choose this
command, a dialog box will appear showing all available project
templates created by the administrator using the server VPT
plug-in:

Select a project to load and a new empty project containing all
the application information (application set, billing rates, etc)
will be downloaded to the workstation. You can work with this
project in exactly the same manner as with any other projects you
create yourself.
After you are done with the project you choose Send Project
To Server command in order to move the project to the server.
The project file is stored in Projects subfolder of the
shared folder on the file server. A subfolder with current user
name is created automatically under Projects folder where all user
projects are stored.
After you've sent the project to the server, you can load
another project template or even the same project you've just
worked on. Next time you send the new data to the server, the
project file will be saved under different name so it will not
overwrite data previously stored.
However before you can use the plug-in you need to specify a
network path to the file server's shared folder and the user name
of the current user working with VPT. For this, go to
Tools>Options menu in VPT and you'll see an extra tab in the
dialog where you can specify this information:
